Discover your passion

Are you looking for a meaningful way to spend your time and give back to the community? When you volunteer with 180 Degrees, you support and empower youth and adults living in crisis in Minnesota and help provide critical services for our clients, facilities and staff.

Volunteer opportunities include:
  • Organize in-kind donations
  • Provide deep-cleaning at our shelters
  • Tackle landscaping, garden clean up, or garden maintenance
  • Bring a team to paint and re-fresh our shelters and work spaces
  • Host a fundraising event
  • Host a donation drive for needed items like multi-cultural books for our library
  • Lead activities on-site for our clients, including:
    • Yoga, mindfulness, self-defense, art, photography, sewing and financial literacy

How to get involved

Needs vary by season and program, so contacting the Program Director at the shelter closest to you is the best way to learn about priority volunteer opportunities (see Contact Us tab on the website).

Get started below where you'll find contact information and learn what each program does. We'll get back to you within 5 business days.

Von Wald Youth Shelter:

  • Maintain vegetable garden. Organize a team to weed, till, plant and maintain the shelter’s vegetable garden.
  • Donation drive. Gather your school, group or neighbors to meet ongoing shelter needs. Can include sheets, towels, rugs, cookware, youth shoes, art supplies. Contact program officer for list.
  • Cook a meal for youth. Plan to cook a meal for youth/staff (approx. 14 people).  BBQ outside, make a birthday cake, open to your ideas!
  • Spring and fall clean up. Assist with interior and grounds clean up, keeping our shelter inviting for youth in crisis.
