Safe Harbor Navigator: East Metro Region

Safe Harbor Navigator Services

Support for youth experiencing sexual exploitation.

180 Degrees, Inc., providing services to youth survivors of sex trafficking since 2015, is Minnesota’s Safe Harbor Navigator for the East Metro Region, and part of Minnesota's Safe Harbor Law and No Wrong Door model.

The East Metro Regional team is made up of an acting Regional Navigator, a Mobile Case Manager, and Crisis Response staff. They support sexually exploited youth and any concerned agencies through:
  • A 24-hour crisis line.
  • Referrals for youth 10-24 years old, of any gender, who have experienced or are at-risk of sex trafficking.
  • Crisis outreach, intervention, and support for youth.
  • Connections to shelter, housing, and longer-term services for youth.
  • Emergency shelter, in-shelter trauma-informed programming and case management, and after care for youth 19 years old and younger who go through 180 Degrees' Brittany's Place shelter.
  • Community organizational training and capacity building.

Over 450 youth under 18 have accessed safety and healing from the trauma of sex trafficking and exploitation at 180 Degrees' Brittany’s Place, Minnesota’s largest shelter and program for survivors and those at the highest risk for being exploited.

Testimonials

“I was fearful for my life and didn’t know where to turn. I called the 180 Degrees’ Regional Navigator. She helped me find a safe place and worked with me to get regular support, including a counselor. I’m in a much better place today.”

David, age 24

"I didn’t want to go to Brittany’s Place. I thought I could survive on my own. I’ve been here for a month and like the staff. They’re helping me get a job and I’m also back in school."

Shari, age 16
