We will be sharing frequent updates on 180 Degrees’ response to COVID-19 and the impact our clients, staff, and the community. Our bottom line is staying strong in our ability to continue supporting Minnesota’s most vulnerable people, while keeping them healthy and safe. We are grateful for your continued support! |

Week of 3/30/20
Dear Community Partners,
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has issued an Executive Order which directs Minnesotans to stay home. The “Shelter in Place” order takes effect beginning this Friday, March 27th at 11:59 p.m. and ends on Friday, April 10th at 5:00 p.m. The order limits activity for all those not engaged in “Critical Sector” work.
This is an extraordinary time and we at 180 Degrees are doing everything in our power to come up with protocols to keep our shelters open. To that affect we have made some changes to better serve the community in this time of need. Our dedicated direct care staff and managers have been keeping our doors opened and the focus on our clients safety. This amazing work is why I want to give you some updates on our services:
We thank you for your support and hope we can help fulfill any needs that you have at this time.
Sincerely,
Dan Pfarr

- Check here for bed availability at any of our shelters or contact the program manager from our Contact Us page.
- We realize that serving homeless youth is critical at this time. We already serve youth who fit this category at our group homes in Rochester and St. Cloud. Please don’t hesitate to call for space or if you need a place for a young person. We can even work with you on transportation if needed.
- If you have a need for a bed for a Sexually Exploited Youth please call Mary McRory, Senior Program Manager of Brittany's Place, for a referral to the shelter. Please take note that youth at risk of exploitation can be served as well. We serve young women from all over the metro and have served clients from every part of the state.
We thank you for your support and hope we can help fulfill any needs that you have at this time.
Sincerely,

What actions are being taken?
We are:
- Asking families to not visit shelters in person, and instead stay in touch with family members and staff through other channels. We will make available phone calls and are working on Skype or other means of electronic communication.
- Limiting outings in which clients leave the grounds of residential programs, except for purposes of work. That does not mean programming will stop; rather, it will change so as to limit the number of people who come into contact with our clients.
- Increasing routine hygiene and site sanitation precautions.
- Screening all necessary persons entering our facilities.
- Creating contingency plans to ensure program staff capacity can continue supporting client intake.
- Maintaining frequent communication between staff, partners, and referral agencies.
- Using tools like phone, text, Skype, etc. for meetings to avoid in-person contact.
- Restricting unnecessary staff travel and encouraging staff who are able to work from home.
- Working closely with public health and medical providers on a daily basis.
We appreciate your patience with the process, and strongly encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.
