At 180 Degrees we're used to dealing with crisis. It's the work we do every day in our shelters and out in the community. This crisis, Covid-19, has tested our organization like never before. As schools, businesses, and stores began closing, our goal has been to remain open for services. Youth who experience violence and neglect at home, need a safe place to shelter in place. Men exiting prison need support to re-integrate with family and the community after years of being away. Families in crisis need support and direction when violence strikes or mental health alters life's plans. Our teams at Hope House, Brittany's Place, Lanewood House, St. Cloud and Von Wald Group Homes, and Clifton Place have stepped up to serve the most in need who don't have family support during this most serious crisis. With disinfecting, temperature-taking, hand-washing and more, our clients and staff are adjusting to new routines. Like you at home, we're trying to bring normalcy to our changed lives and being inside for most of time. This week in our St. Cloud Group Home, we're celebrating a 13-year old, 15-year old and a 17-year old birthday for youth. With the donation of an electronic dart board, we're hosting a Dart Tournament at Hope House. At the Von Wald Group Home, youth are planting seeds in a new greenhouse they helped construct. Creativity abounds during crisis. Your generosity keeps us all going. Thank you to those of you who have generously made finanicial gifts during this time of financial uncertainty. Thank you to everyone who has donated cleaning supplies, games, art supplies, crafts, cooking kits, and more. We are grateful for hand-made masks sewn with love and care. These are needed and appreciated. We can not do our work without the support of the community. Thank you to everyone that makes our work possible. |
